The star had invited a fan called Jack to join her on stage and jumped into his arms – but he lost his footing and the pair plummeted to the floor. “We legitimately thought she was dead,” wrote one audience member on Reddit. Instead, Gaga returned to play Million Reasons with Jack at her side. “It’s amazing,” she said. “We love each other so much we fell off the damn stage.” “We fell into each other’s arms. We’re like Jack and Rose from Titanic. “I suppose we should have some tea after that.”

Fans were concerned for Gaga’s wellbeing as she lives with fibromyalgia, a rheumatic condition like arthritis that can impair the joints, and cause chronic pain.

In 2013, she had to cancel her Born This Way tour after fracturing her hip. But the singer shrugged off Thursday night’s fall, calming the audience as security guards helped her to her feet. “Everything’s OK,” she said. “The only thing that’s not OK is we need some stairs for the damn stage so I can get back up.” The star also consoled Jack, who was in tears after the accident.

“Don’t worry, everything’s fine. It’s not your fault,” she said, adding: “Could you promise me something? Could you forgive yourself right now for what just happened?” “She brought him up on stage and asked everyone on the internet to be nice to him,” observed Reddit user UltimaterializerX. “Poor guy was crying most of the time until she cheered him up.” Later in the show, Gaga proved the fall had caused no permanent damage by performing an intricate, athletic routine to her signature song, Bad Romance.

Heavy fighting broke in northern Mexico after the security forces seized one of the sons of jailed drug kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Fighting raged for several hours after Ovidio Guzmán López was found during a routine patrol in the city of Culiacán. Footage on Mexican TV showed armed men with heavy weapons firing on police, with vehicles, bodies and burning barricades strewn across the street. Mr Guzmán was later released – to avoid further violence, the authorities said. Mexico’s security minister, Alfonso Durazo, said a patrol of National Guard militarised police came under heavy fire from within the house where Mr Guzmán was being held, forcing them to retreat for their own safety.

Mr Guzmán was arrested but later released, “to avoid more violence in the area and preserve the lives of our personnel and recover calm in the city”, Mr Durazo said. Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he would hold a meeting of his security cabinet to discuss the incident.

Snoop Dogg has employed a “professional blunt roller” whose sole job is to supply finely twisted smokes to the rapper and his entourage when they’re in need of a hit.

The rap legend made the revelation on a recent episode of Howard Stern’s radio show that also featured fellow marijuana enthusiast Seth Rogen. Snoop said he pays the employee between $40,000 and $50,000 annually – and complimented the roller for presenting him with blunts precisely when he’s in need.

“That motherf—ker is like Lurch from the Addams Family. ‘You rang?’” Snoop said during the interview, comparing him to the manservant on the 1960s sitcom. Rogen, who said he’s seen the roller in action, added that “he knows how to gauge the look on someone’s face when it seems like they want a blunt and if they do, he gives you one.”

“That motherf—ker’s timing is impeccable,” Snoop added. Stern then pressed Snoop on whether his employee’s sole job is to roll joints. “That’s his J-O-B – his occupation,” Snoop said on the show.

Deputy Minister for Defense, Major (retired) Derrick Oduro has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of former President John Mahama and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin over unsubstantiated claims government is training thugs at the military installation at Asutuare.

“They should get them arrested for creating fear and panic,” the Minister instructed the security agencies in the country when commenting on the development in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored on Kumasi FM.

According to the ex-military officer, it is highly impossible for anyone to have access to any military camp or installation to receive training as being claimed by former President John Mahama and other opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“It is a lie that the thugs are being trained and we should get them arrested and prosecution so that they will bring evidence”, Major (retired) Derrick Oduro told host, Nana Yaw Mensah Joel during a telephone interview.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said there is evidence to support allegations by former President John Dramani Mahama that the ruling government is training thugs to disrupt the 2020 general elections.

Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta Constituency, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has described President Mahama’s assertions that the party is training thugs to destabilize 2020 elections as “nonsensical”.

“Obviously, candidate Mahama is trying to court leading figures in our society. Religious leaders, business persons, professionals, public and civil servants, academics, traditional authorities, students, trade unionists, journalists, security servants, and many others. He is entitled to do so. But the least this beloved country deserves is constructive engagement. Quality policy alternatives. The NPP is eagerly waiting for John Mahama’s’ policy on anything.

Meanwhile, the NPP is fully harnessed into the unfolding program of H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo

Mahama misled the people when President and now misleading them with lies in opposition,” Lawyer Buaben Asamoah stated. But the NDC has maintained that there is evidence to support the claims of the candidate.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has challenged the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to sensitise media practitioners across the country to be accurate in their reportage

Ms Botchwey said this when the leadership of the GJA, as part of activities leading to its 70th-anniversary celebration, paid a courtesy call on her on Wednesday, 16 October 2019.

“The media have a role to play to ensure that we are all made aware of what we have. Sometimes, as I said, you read some reports and it’s disheartening, especially when you have, in some cases, taken pains to walk people through a certain process to where you are and then the reports come and it’s totally different. A small part [of all you said] is taken and that’s what is highlighted and sometimes it’s not the best,” she stated.

The minister also congratulated the GJA for their 70th-anniversary adding that there is no justification for to be attacked in their line of duty.

For his part, GJA President Roland Affail Monney commended the minister for her role in uplifting Ghana’s image and expressed the need to give more education to journalists to have the national interest at heart when reporting for international media.

“Our elders teach us that it is wrong, culturally, it is even demeaning to point to your family house with your left hand, and some journalists, either out of mischief or whatever, will do stories which denigrate our image as a country.

I know some of these stories are rooted in ignorance and others in mischief. But in all these, we need education on the implications of the stories we do but before the education or training programmes come, we have a duty, as professionals, indeed, every journalist worth his or her salt ought to weigh the implications, think through the consequences of whatever story we do relative to the national interest,” he noted.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta has threatened to terminate the contracts of road contractors who do poor jobs while those who execute their contracts competently will be rewarded with more contracts, promising that an amount of GHC2.2 billion has been allocated to pay outstanding debts of contractors.

Speaking to newsmen the Member of Parliament for the Atiwa West Constituency stressed the point that shoddy work will not be tolerated under the Presidency of Akufo-Addo. “In this month, all contractors who have their monies locked up will be paid. President Akufo-Addo has allocated GHC 2.2 billion to pay all contractors in order to finish their road contracts.

Contractors who do poor jobs will have their contracts terminated and given to those who can competently deliver the project. Hardworking contractors will be rewarded. Shoddy work will not be allowed under President Akufo-Addo’s government,” he warned. The Minister warning on shoddy work comes at a time complaints are rife about contracts having been done haphazardly, and work done therefore deteriorating fast.

The Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had announced that between this month and next month (October and November), all road contractors owed will be given some payment. At a recent event at Lawra in the Upper West Region, he said “thanks to the good economic management of our government, 80% of all road contractors who are owed monies by government (most of who existed before we came into office) will be fully paid between October and November this year. The remaining 20% will be paid 40% of what they are owed now and the balance will be paid subsequently”.
