  • Do you struggle to reclaim healthy eating habits as the new year begins? The aftermath of holiday stress and low nutrition can wreak havoc on your overall well-being, not to mention your ability to stay centered and maintain balance between rest and energy, says Stacy Kennedy, chief wellness officer for AVA, a service that provides customized nutritional guidance through text messaging.

To ensure you are getting enough nutrition – and to boost your energy – Kennedy loves smoothies, made in a blender from whole, nutrient-dense foods that meet four major nutritional needs in one portable cup:

    • Hydration, a cornerstone of energy and metabolism
    • Fiber, to keep digestion smooth
    • Protein, to maintain blood sugar and support immunity
    • Vitamins and minerals, to support immunity, regulate energy, and manage your sleep-wake cycle

“Smoothies are opportunities to multitask those goals,” says Kennedy. Introduce your imagination to your blender with this “master smoothie” formula:

    • A healthy liquid (dairy milk, nut milk or coconut water)
    • Protein (plain organic Greek yogurt or nut butters)
    • Fruits or vegetables (berries, banana or greens)
    • A frozen element (fruit or ice, depending on the smoothie)

Kennedy suggests starting simply with smoothie recipes that are easy to make in a big batch, so you can freeze unused portions for later. These recipes each make one smoothie, but the recipes can easily be doubled, or more.

    Nut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

Blend 10 ounces of almond milk with a frozen banana, a cup of berries, and a tablespoon of the nut butter of your choice. Add a handful of spinach leaves (you won’t taste it, Kennedy says) and a sprinkling of chia seeds, spirulina, or other super food, if desired.

    Nutritional takeaways:

Protein from the nut butter, potassium from the banana, antioxidants and phytonutrients from the berries.

    Tropical Power Smoothie

Blend 10 ounces of unsweetened coconut water with ½ cup of pineapple, ¼ to ½ of a cucumber, a handful of spinach, chard, or kale, and ¼ to ½ of an avocado. Add a squeeze of fresh lime juice and a pinch of sea salt to finish.

    Nutritional takeaways:

Hydration and electrolytes from the coconut water, magnesium and B vitamins from the pineapple and greens, protein and healthy fat from the avocado.

    Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Blend 10 ounces of almond milk with a cup of pureed pumpkin or cooked sweet potato, a teaspoon of honey, a dash of cinnamon, and a sprinkle of chia seeds. Fresh cranberries are a tart and colorful addition, if desired.

    Nutritional takeaways:

Electrolytes (potassium) and antioxidants (beta-carotene) from the orange squash, vitamin C from the cranberries

  • The president of the United States of America, Donald Trump stirred up tempers across the world especially in Africa on the  second week of January 2018 with his ”Speech”.
The world known Controversial President’s speech got the world talking and wondering why he had to descend hard on Africa with his words.   Although about 80% of people across the world have defined Donald to be racist, Proving his mental health condition seem to have become a necessity ‘i mean his mental stability……..’‘. Bellow is the result of Donald Trump’s Mental Status.

Can you recognize a lion? How about remembering a list of five words, right away and five minutes later?

President Donald Trump can. He got all the usual tests as part of his annual physical exam as president. But he also added an extra exam — a cognitive screening test for memory loss or early dementia.

It’s not part of the usual battery of tests given to a president and may reflect an outpouring of coverage and commentary questioning whether Trump is mentally fit for office.

Trump insisted on taking the test and passed it with flying colors, Admiral Dr. Ronny Jackson, presidential physician, told reporters.

“Many of you may have picked up on the fact that we did do a cognitive assessment,” Jackson said.

“I didn’t feel it was clinically indicated,” he added. “It has been my experience that the president is very sharp and he’s very articulate when he speaks to me.”

Related: Trump insists he is a stable genius

Trump is the first president to undergo the memory screening, Jackson said. The White House medical team chose the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which was designed as a rapid screening tool for mild cognitive dysfunction — a loss of memory and clear thinking ability that sometimes precedes dementia.

The 30-point test includes drawings of a lion and a rhinoceros, which patients must name. Test-takers are also asked to copy a simple line sketch of a cube; match the letter A to the number 1, the letter B to the number 2 and so on. They are asked to recall a list of five words and repeat very short lists of numbers forward and backwards. It tests attention, memory and visual skills, all of which deteriorate in people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia. A score of 26 or lower indicates dementia.

A Cochrane Collaboration review of the test showed it detects 94 percent of people with dementia.

It’s one of several quick tests that can screen people for MCI or dementia.

“We picked one of the ones that was a little longer, a little more involved,” Jackson said.

“It was a more difficult one of all of them. It took significantly longer to complete, and the president did extremely well on it,” Jackson said.

“If he had some type of mental, cognitive issue … this test is sensitive enough. It would pick up on it. He would not have gotten 30 out of 30 on the test. So I’m very confident at this particular stage that he has nothing like that going on.”

Spatial skills also deteriorate with MCI and dementia, as does attention.

Trump took the test during the annual physical that is customary for presidents at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on Friday.

Jackson, who is the official physician to the president, said he did not see anything unusual — especially not for a 71-year-old American.

Because Trump has blustered about his health before, there had been suspicions among some critics that the White House might conceal evidence that he is mentally or physically unfit for office.

Jackson, who also served as former president Barack Obama’s official physician, denied anything has been hidden.

“I can promise you there is absolutely nothing that I’m withholding from this,” Jackson said.

  • California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris delivered this statement to DHS Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen at a Senate Judiciary hearing Tuesday morning. She addressed her concerns about racism in the Trump administration before continuing on to questions about policy.

SEN. KAMALA HARRIS: I join issue with the statements of Senator Booker. I am deeply concerned and troubled about the words that I believe that Dick Durbin has shared with us that came from the President of the United States. I believe that the words spoken by any president of these United States are powerful words and should be spoken with the spirit of unifying and not dividing our country—should be spoken in a way that brings dignity to other human beings and does not demean them. I am deeply concerned when we are—just having celebrated the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, who spoke about the effect of racism in this country and words that are motivated by racism. For so many reasons they are harmful. They have led to death. At their mildest form, which is not mild, it suggests to one group of people that they are inferior, and to another that they are superior, to their fellow man.

This is a pivotal moment in the history of our country. When we are having discussions about whether the people of Norway—and will use your words, Madam Secretary—and you spoke about how they were referred to as by contrast to the people of Africa and the various countries—the 54 countries of Africa and Haiti, and we speak of them and you spoke of them, according to the president, as the people of Norway—’well, you know, they work very hard’—the inference being the people of the 54 states of Africa and Haiti do not. That is a fair inference. You run the Department of Homeland Security and when you say you don’t know if Norway is predominantly white when asked by a member of the United States Senate, that causes me concern about your ability to understand the scope of your responsibilities and the impact of your words, much less the policies that you promulgate in that very important department.

You opened by talking about a number of statistics that paint the threat the country faces from terrorism. Particularly you spoke of those who commit acts of terror who are not born in this country. The study you mentioned, however, leaves out some of the most rampant terror attacks that we’ve seen lately which were domestic acts of terror. As has been mentioned, there is a report from the FBI and DHS which outlines white supremacist extremists. And I quote, the report says, ‘will likely continue to pose a threat of lethal violence over the course of the next year.’ The report states that ‘white supremacist extremists are responsible for 49 homicides and 26 attacks from the year 2000 to 2016. More than any other domestic extremist movement.’ I am quoting. It is deeply troubling that in your opening comments when you talk about the threats to our nation, our homeland, to national security, that you fail to mention a report that outlined a very specific threat to us as the American people—deeply troubled. You must understand the inference, the reasonable inference that the American public is drawing from the words you speak, much less the words of the president of the United States.

This is what I’m talking about. He is ALL THAT yeah we all Know but was he telling the truth? The answer is a big YES.

That’s the point. God has blessed AFRICA so much than any other continent but it’s rather sad the barbaric nature of our selfish and greedy leaders have lead us into this state. We keep retrogressively pointing hands at the western world , depending on them, without focusing on AFRICA.

    is.jpg

Why can’t AFRICA be the place where no one wants to leave except it’s urgent? Why can’t they simply make Africa better instead enriching themselves with THE RESOURCES OF AFRICA? TRUMP could be all that but THE “FOOL”SAID THE TRUTH. Instead of focusing on the message we’re focusing on Who He is. He said nothing but the hard Truth.

    is.jpg

Please let’s drop tradition and rules for the first time and welcome the truth as it is. Instead of African leaders meeting on Him as the subject who has insulted Africa I think they should have an emergency meeting on how to prove him wrong.
He said it like he had really done his homework. Trump researched very well because he got it all right.

    is.jpg
Why are our leaders taking their wards abroad to study? Because our education System is POOR. Our certificates have no weight abroad but Theirs, have down here. When can we start swallowing our pride and start doing our homework.

    is.jpg

Now to talk of The Black Americans especially the ” celebrities” who are Angrily attacking Trump, my advice is you should all quit the hypocritical behaviors.

    is.jpg

You only come out to “,TALK” in defense of AFRICA when you hear we’ve been attacked but; what are you doing for AFRICA ?

You claim to have accepted your roots but have you really contributed to the development of the stem? If not then stop acting up when the fruits of the tree is attacked.

With the Millionaires and billionaires among you, has it occurred to you EVER to come and INVEST in your root? Has it Ever Occurred to you to Come down to your root; to experience what it’s like to be AFRICAN? YET you attack .
